Monrovia- Former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor recently highlighted a concerning incident involving a targeted attack on her vehicle in the Duport Road community, resulting in damage to the car’s rear windshield. In a statement issued following the incident, she expressed alarm over the escalation in challenges to her security and the lack of adequate protection provided by the current administration of President Joseph Boakai.
Despite numerous appeals for enhanced security measures, including requests to the Executive Protection Service, Madam Howard-Taylor alleged that her concerns have largely gone unaddressed. The absence of official or security vehicles provided to her has left her feeling vulnerable and raises questions about her commitment to ensuring the safety of former government officials.
The former Vice President emphasized her unwavering dedication to advocating for peace and democratic values. She called on the Liberian National Police to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the attack. She urged the government to address the security lapse promptly to safeguard all citizens, including public figures and former officials.
She however expressed gratitude for the public support, reiterated her commitment to upholding democratic principles and the rule of law, and encouraged all Liberians to remain vigilant and support initiatives to maintain peace and security in the nation.
