Monrovia—The U.S. Government, through USAID and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), celebrated the achievements of the Youth for Peace (Y4P) Activity at a closeout event in Liberia. Funded by USAID and implemented by CRS from July 2021 to December 2024, the initiative engaged over 5,000 youth and community members in Bong, Nimba, and Montserrado Counties, fostering peace and social cohesion.
CRS Country Representative Glynnis Cummings-John praised Liberia’s youth for their resilience and leadership in addressing violence, inequality, and poverty. U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires, Catherine Rodriguez, highlighted the initiative’s impact during Liberia’s 2023 general elections, noting the youth’s role in shaping a peaceful future.
The event, attended by representatives from the Government of Liberia, youth organizations, civil society, and donors, celebrated the program’s accomplishments and discussed strategies to sustain its impact. The Y4P Activity delivered training workshops and edutainment events, building trust among diverse groups and mobilizing youth for peacebuilding efforts.
Stakeholders emphasized the need for continued collaboration and investment in peacebuilding programs to maintain the progress achieved, ensuring a brighter future for Liberia driven by its young leaders.
