Former Liberian female chess champion, Abigail Karyah, put up an impressive performance at the West African Chess Championship, securing the second position in the women’s session. Karyah kicked off the tournament strongly with two wins out of her first three games, ultimately finishing with 5 points out of a possible seven.
One of her notable victories was against Bridget Michael, currently recognized as the top female chess player in West Africa. However, it was Ofowino Toritsemuwa, the second-highest-ranked female player in the region, who emerged victorious in the Women’s Session. Toritsemuwa showcased her skill and determination by finishing the tournament undefeated, with a perfect score of seven points out of seven.
