The Majority Bloc, during an illegal session, announced the suspension of four lawmakers: Rep. Frank Saah Foko, Rep. Eugene Collins, Rep. Zinnah Norman, and Rep. Alex Sonnyboy Noah, citing misconduct. This session, deemed illegal by the Supreme Court of Liberia, saw the suspension of a total of seven representatives, most of whom are members of the CDC party.
The actions of these lawmakers, who refer to themselves as the Majority Bloc, have garnered significant support from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai who many Liberians have labeled a “lawless President” due to his repeated disregard for the rule of law. The President is on record for disrespecting Supreme Court rulings on more than three occasions. This has raised serious questions about the rule of law and the integrity of Liberia’s legal and political system.
